One annoying thing about MakeMKV is that you have to update the program regularly else it simply won't work, and you have to go to their forum to update the beta keys every month. MakeMKV tends to lag behind the other programs on encryption updates, but it is free to use while in beta, and seems to stay in beta status perpetually. I believe there is an option to rip the entire blu ray as blu ray structure instead of an mkv file by selecting backup, but I don't believe that is possible with dvds. It can decrypt dvds and blu ray, but it rips to the hard drive as an mkv file if you are working with dvds. There are free trials for all these programs. The third option from DVDFab is called DVDPasskey, and it is a program similar to AnyDVD, in that it can work in the background and break encryption and allows you to use other tools for compression. It is not updated as often as the commercial version and lags behind by 6 to 8 weeks. They have a free section within DVDFab that only does decryption and ripping chores, called DVDFab HD Decrypter.
